The Aberdeen International Curling Championship will be hosted by Curl Aberdeen from 11^th – 14^th March 2021.

The prize pot is £9000+ (dependent on Sponsorship and the number of entries).

The entry fee for the event is £775. Included in the entry fee is shuttle bus transport from Aberdeen Airport to Curl Aberdeen and during the event from the host hotel to Curl Aberdeen. Meals and soft beverages in the players’ lounge during the event are also included in the entry fee.

Curl Aberdeen is a purpose built, state of the art curling facility situated to the west of Aberdeen. Opened in 2005 Curl Aberdeen has held many competitions and events including the European Curling Championships in 2009, World Junior Championships in 2018 and World Mixed Championship in 2019. The six lane curling rink, which also has top of the range conference facilities, is the only dedicated curling facility in the North East of Scotland. It is a members club with over 700 members aged 8-90 playing seven days a week.

Aberdeen International

Curl Aberdeen hosted the fourth Aberdeen International Curling Championship which started on the 14th March. We had 18 high quality teams, including teams that will represent their countries at the upcoming World Men's Championship, teams that had won Grand Slams in Canada, Gold medals in recent European Youth Olympics & Winter Uni Games. The organising committee would like to thank the Chief Umpire and the Transport Manager for their time and effort over the event.

2018 Aberdeen International Champions

2018 Champs Team Mouat!

Mouat played Schwaller in the 2018 final. The result was 7-4 with Mouat running Schwaller out of stones in the last end. Congratulations to Team Mouat on your win here in Aberdeen.

Semi Finals

Friday Night saw the Quarter Finals take place with Baumann v Brewster on Sheet B, Smith v Walstad on C, Schwaller v Bryce on D and Mouat v Stirling Gin (Drummond) on E.
Baumann, Smith and Schwaller all won their games by scoring a 1 in the final end after being peeled going down the last, Mouat also scored a 1 in the final end but had a two shot cushion running out 7-4 winners.

Semi Finals took place at 9am on the Sunday Morning with a repeat of the World Men's Playoff for Scotland in Smith v Mouat, it was a high scoring game with 2's and 3's being taken by both teams. Mouat ran Smith out of stones in the 8th end winning the game 9-6.

The other Semi Final was between Baumann and Schwaller, and despite Team Baumann playing a great shot in the 4th to pull back the score to just being one down, Schwaller came out victorious with a score of 4 in the 5th end.

Aberdeen International 2018 under way

That's the Aberdeen International underway with Smith v Drummond (Team Stirling Gin) and Zou (China) v Timofeev (Russia) kicking it off last night. Timofeev beat Zou and Smith stole in the extra to beat Drummond.

This morning sees Brewster v Walstad, Mouat v Pfister, Baumann v Van Dorp, Retornaz v Wunderer & Bryce v Muirhead.

Included in the entry fee is shuttle bus transport from Aberdeen Airport to Curl Aberdeen and during the event from the host hotel to Curl Aberdeen. After last seasons successful tournament the Aberdeen International Curling Championship is back again this season, being played between 15th - 18th March 2018,so save that date!  The format being a Triple Knockout. Entry forms will be available soon.

Semi Final

The Semi's saw McEwen v Hardie and Rui v Schwaller. Team Hardie & Team McEwen gave each other a really good game. Hardie took the win with a double in the 6th to lie 3 and win the game 6-2. The video of the shot that won the game can be found here. Team Rui defeated Schwaller to make the final. Both teams have came through the C Road.

Quarter Finals

We are now in the money making part of the competition for these teams.

McEwen (Can) v Kauste (Fin)
Schwaller (Sui) v Murdoch (Sco)
Rui (China) v Eskilsson (Swe)
Hardie(Sco) v Deruelle (Can)

Hardie Defeats Deruelle 6-2 after 6 ends, he stole a 2 in the first which sets them up for the rest of the game. Schwaller defeats last years winners and current Scottish Champions Team Murdoch. Rui beats Eskilsson and McEwen completes the line up in the semi's with a win over Kauste.

The semi's are Hardie v McEwen and Rui v Schwaller, three C road qualifiers and an A road in the Semi. Semi final on at 12pm.

Saturday

Again some excellent curling on show and a few big results. Team Brewster were knockout the C road by Wunderer in the early morning game. Wunderer carried on in the competition but came up against Stjerne in the next round of C road games, Stjerne came out strong and took a 6 in the first end, that's was game over already.  The 4.30pm session in the C Road saw Hardie play Shuster (Team USA). Hardie came out victorious running Shuster out of stones in the 8th. The same session saw Whyte v Ulsrud, this ended with an extra end and a win for Team Whyte, knocking Ulsrud out of the competition before the playoffs.

7.30pm saw C Road Final happen with Rui v Ramsfjell, Hardie v Stjerne, Whyte v Schwaller and Stukalskiy v Kauste.  Winners from these game went into the playoffs Sunday morning 9am. Rui, Hardie, Schwaller and Kauste all booked their places at 9 o'clock.

Today So Far

Today has seen the young team from Forfar Team Craik beat last years World Junior Champions, this year's Scottish Men's runners up & Uni Game Gold Medalist Team Mouat, They are currently facing the World Silver medalist from last year Rasmus Stjerne. Team Hardie beat Team Brewster in great game of curling. Team Murdoch took a win in their first game in the competition against Team China, the Skip finishing the game with half a brush, having slammed his brush so hard it broke in two.

Aberdeen International Curling Championship 2017

We are pleased to invite you to the Curling Champions Tour & Scottish Curling Tour event in Aberdeen. The Aberdeen International Curling Championship will be hosted by Curl Aberdeen from 16^th to 19^th March 2017.

Twenty eight teams from around the world will contest the competition in a triple knockout for their share of the total prize pot of £13,900.

The entry fee for the event is £600 per team. Included in the entry fee is:

Congratulations to Team Murdoch who are the inaugural Aberdeen International Curling Champions. They played a great final against Team Brewster winning 5-1. Team Murdoch were presented with the Bruce Ferguson Memorial Trophy by Bruce's wife, Kate Ferguson,
